Throwing Bricks at Trains

My lasting impression of a fleeting stint at university is of a tacky bar and venue with cheap beer and a knack for making even the coolest American bands look distinctly rural.

I figured this was down to being in small-capital-city New Zealand but after spending another night at ULU on Tuesday to see Future of the Left it turns out it’s a global phenomenon.

You might argue that Future of the Left could be called rural anyway but they’re sure as shit the best thing to come out of Wales since mclusky imploded a few years back and they wield two of the things worth enjoying most on this green Earth – sarcasm and loud guitars. Sweet reward after two younger, duller bands had played for long enough to make me wonder why I’d left work that early.

Here’s how it went down

Writing articles for this blog, after a while, it started to suck. There wasn’t much happening, so content turned into posted link after posted link, which in turn led to extended silence. And then there was a picture of some dude in a panda suit sitting on a beach as that meant I didn’t have to think about the site at all.

Since then things have happened. America got a new president, I got a new job, some people were fucking bad with money… interesting things man. We will cover none of these. Or all of them, I’m not really sure how it’ll work yet. But there will be words and there will be laughs (no promises on this one folks) and there will most likely still be lots of links and stupid videos.

Just as long as through it all you remember, this is still all about me. Welcome back.
